Brennan and Santos Pace Seawolves on Day One of IC4A/ECAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Stony Brook University men's track and field team wrapped up day one of competition at the IC4A/ECAC Championships. Evan Brennan and Carlos Santos placed second and third in the 5K, while George Franks and Shane advanced to tomorrow's finals in their respective events.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Brennan raced to a second-place finish in the 5K, clocking a season-best 14:03.23. His finish earned Stony Brook eight points.
  • Santos followed right behind Brennan, grabbing a third-place finish with a time of 14:05.20, securing six points for the Seawolves.
  • Franks finished first in the prelims of the 200-meter, advancing to the finals. He finished fourth in the 400-meter prelims as well.
  • Henderson took fifth in the mile prelim, covering the mile in 4:06.51.
  • Alexander Kanes finished 10th in the long jump with a mark of 6.38 meters.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Good day 1; the highlights were both 5000-meter races. Evan, Carlos and Fiona were all in contention for the win up until the last 200 meters. Really pleased with the way they competed," head coach Andy Ronan noted. "Also encouraged by Michael Fama's performance over the 5K distance tonight. We got the majority of people through to tomorrow's finals that we hoped we would, so we're looking to close out the indoor season tomorrow with a few more strong performances."

Action resumes tomorrow, March 3, at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston, Mass.
