STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook men's basketball announced the addition of CJ Luster (Guard, 6-4, Denton, Texas) to the program. Luster announced his commitment to Stony Brook on Monday.

Luster is ranked as the No. 22 JUCO player in the nation, according to JucoRecruiting.com. He was the leading scorer at Salt Lake Community College, averaging 16.4 points per game. Salt Lake CC was the No. 3 ranked team in the NJCAA and won the Scenic West Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship, finishing with a 30-4 record. Luster helped Salt Lake CC to a NJCAA Region 18 Championship and advance to the Second Round of the NJCAA National Tournament.

"We are really excited to add CJ to our program. He is a winner and a great competitor," head coach Geno Ford said. "CJ is an elite shooter and scorer. His ability to stretch the defense is going to really impact our team. He is good with the ball and can make plays for himself and his teammates. I look forward to him being another leader in our locker room."

A First Team All-SWAC honoree in 2023-24, Luster was also a two-time SWAC Player of the Week during the season. Luster finished top-10 in the country with 105 three-point field-goal makes (No. 7), a 47.9 percent mark from three-point range (No. 6) and a free throw shooting percentage of 89.0 (No. 3). He also averaged 3.1 rebounds per game and dished out 54 assists during the season.

"CJ had a phenomenal year for us at Salt Lake. He was our leading scorer, and our most consistent player," Salt Lake CC head coach Kyle Taylor said. "He draws so much attention and focus from opposing defenses and yet you still can't guard him! He expanded his game driving to the basket this year, and really improved and took pride defensively as well."

"I'm thrilled for CJ Luster to commit to Stony Brook! He's making a great decision to join that staff and program," Taylor added. "CJ is a winner and will make a significant impact on winning at Stony Brook. We don't win 30 games and 3 championships this season without CJ Luster in our starting lineup and as our leading scorer. CJ is going to make shots at Stony Brook, he's going to score the ball consistently, and he's going to impact the culture with his work ethic."
