STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook softball head coach
Megan T. Bryant announced the addition of Nicole Bowman to the staff as an assistant coach. Bowman previously served as an assistant on the Appalachian State coaching staff.
"Nicole Bowman is a home-run hire for our program, our student-athletes and our athletics department. First and foremost, she is an outstanding person of high character. Nicole knows the game and understands coaching and succeeding at a high level. She knows recruiting and the importance of finding student-athletes who fit our program and University," Bryant said. "Nicole will be a tremendous mentor and teacher for our players. She will bring a strong passion for softball and for developing student-athletes on and off the field. Our staff welcomes Nicole to the Seawolves' softball family and Stony Brook University. We look forward to working together as we continue to build a successful program in the CAA."
Bowman comes to Long Island after a two-year coaching stint at Appalachian State. She joined the Mountaineers' staff for the 2023 season as a volunteer assistant before being elevated to a full-time assistant coach for the 2024 season. Bowman worked primarily with App State's outfield and hitters, while assisting with in-game and practice management and video analysis. Additionally, Bowman was tasked with managing gear and apparel, alumni communication, social media management and camp coordination.

A former student-athlete, Bowman played three seasons at Rutgers before finishing her playing career at UNC Charlotte. Bowman appeared in 145 games, starting in 140, during her three seasons as a Scarlet Knight. She posted a career .273 batting average with Rutgers, with 111 hits, 14 home runs and 81 runs batted in.
In her lone season with the 49ers, Bowman started in 47 of her 49 games played, posting a .321 batting average with 42 hits. For her efforts, she was selected to the Conference USA Second Team.
Bowman is a native of Downers Grove, Illinois. She played for the Downers Grove South High School Mustangs and was part of three Western Suburban Gold Conference championships and earned All-Conference and All-Area Honorable Mention distinction.
