SPARKS, Md. – A pair of Stony Brook women's lacrosse student-athletes were named USA Lacrosse Division I Women's Preseason All-Americans, as senior
Avery Hines was named Second Team, and graduate student
Charlotte Wilmoth earned an Honorable Mention, the organization released on Wednesday.
Hines and Wilmoth were named to their respective teams among 76 of the best Division I players in the country.
Hines earned herself Third Team All-American from both USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse last season after finishing fourth in the nation in total caused turnovers with 66 and setting a new program record averaging 3.14 per game, while adding a team-high 45 ground balls. The Mt. Airy, Maryland native was an All-CAA First Team, IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Second Team All-Region, and All-ECAC Team selection as she was throughout the season as a two-time IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week and three-time CAA Defensive Player of the Week.
A graduate transfer from UMass, Wilmoth was the team's second leading scorer with 75 points on 55 goals and 20 assists last season, ranking 41
st among Division I leaders with 3.06 goals per game. She also took Second Team Atlantic-10 distinction along with All-Championship Team and a Player of the Week honor in 2024.
Stony Brook was ranked No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse Division I Women's Preseason Top 20, which was released on Jan. 10.
