Stony Brook Tops Northeastern on Senior Day, Clinches No. 2 Seed in CAA North Division

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook men's soccer scored three second-half goals to upend Northeastern on senior day at LaValle Stadium. With the win, the Seawolves clinched the No. 2 seed in the CAA North Division and the right to host the quarterfinal round next week.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A very defensively sound first half saw just a combined four shots between the two sides over the opening 45 minutes of play on Long Island. The lone shot on goal came from Finlay Oliver, which was handled without cause for concern on the Northeastern side. The Seawolves had a pair of corner kicks down the stretch, but nothing offensive came of the chances.

Stony Brook finally opened the scoring when Jamie Orson notched his fourth goal of the less than 10 minutes into second-half action. Caleb Danquah fed a cross to the front post that Orson directed home.

Danquah had a later opportunity of his own to add a goal, drawing a foul in the box that was confirmed by video review, leading to a penalty kick. A perfect 2-for-2 this season, Danquah stepped up with a grounded left-footed shot that was saved, giving the Huskies a bit of momentum going forward.

The Seawolves managed the momentum shift and later added another goal to go ahead by a pair late in the match. Alex Fleury put home his second of the season after a beautiful through ball from Justin Jean-Louis left him 1-on-1 with the Huskies' keeper.

Kristoffer Aarflot provided the icing on the cake, with an insurance tally in the 87th minute. Stony Brook cruised to the finish, earning a third straight win and clinching the No. 2 seed in the CAA North Division.
