STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook softball team officially announced its full 2026 schedule on Thursday. The 55-game slate features 29 non-conference games, including four February tournaments, 24 CAA contests, and 17 home games.
"We are looking forward to this season and the competitive schedule ahead of us," stated head coach Megan Bryant. "Our goals will be challenging and exciting to work towards. Team leadership, commitment to the process and staying healthy will be keys to our success."
The season kicks off on February 6 with the first of two trips to Florida for the FIU Felsberg Invitational. The three-day event will see Stony Brook play five games, starting with Lehigh and a Power 4 matchup vs. Louisville on day one, followed by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and FIU on day two, and finally ending with one more vs. Lehigh on day three.
A week later, the Seawolves will again head down to Sunshine State for the joint Jacksonville/North Florida Invitational. Hosted by both schools, Stony Brook will first take on Princeton and Jacksonville on February 13, before heading east to face Princeton and 2025 NCAA Tournament participant UNF on the 14th. The Seawolves will close out the event on the 15th with the finale at UNF.
The following week sees another joint tournament, this time in Virginia co-hosted by Norfolk State and Hampton from February 20-22. All of Stony Brook's games will be at Norfolk State, starting with Maine and the hosts on Friday, then Quinnipiac on Saturday, and finally wrapping up with Quinnipiac and Norfolk State on Sunday.
Stony Brook will compete in its fourth and final tournament at Central Connecticut State from February 28-March 1. The round robin event will see the Seawolves take on Holy Cross and CCSU back-to-back on both days.
Conference play officially begins on March 6 with a short trip across the island to rival Hofstra for three games over the weekend.
March 10 will mark the home opener on the newly renovated University Field as the Seawolves host FDU for a doubleheader. The next day, the team is back on the road for a one-game trip to New Rochelle to face Iona.
CAA competition resumes the following weekend from March 13-15 when Stony Brook hosts Hampton for three. The homestand continues with a midweek matchup vs. Sacred Heart on March 17.
The team is back on the road the next week with three conference games at Drexel from March 20-22, followed by a doubleheader at Wagner on the 24th. Stony Brook then returns home to host conference foe Towson from March 27-29, before closing out the month in New Jersey at Seton Hall on the 31st.
The Seawolves begin April on the road, first with a doubleheader at Lafayette on the fourth and then a three-game conference series at Monmouth from the 10th-12th. The following week, Stony Brook is back home to begin a stretch of five games in seven days. First up is Fordham on April 15, followed by the second series of the season vs. Hofstra over the weekend. The Seawolves will finish off the homestand on April 21 vs. St. John's.
Stony Brook will then hit the road for the final time in the regular season as the team heads down to North Carolina to take on reigning CAA Champion Elon for three games from April 24-26, before heading back north to Connecticut to wrap up the road slate at Fairfield on April 28.
The regular season comes to a close later that week at home with one last series vs. Drexel from April 30-May 2. After that it is on to the CAA Championship hosted by Elon from May 6-9.
With the new divisional format, Stony Brook competes in the North Division with Drexel, Hofstra, Monmouth, and Towson. The top two teams from the north and south divisions based on conference winning percentage in all games will qualify for the six-team CAA Championship. The other two tournament participants will be the teams that have the highest conference winning percentage in all conference games played, but did not finish first or second in their division.
