Box Score CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Stony Brook baseball team concluded their weekend against No. 5 North Carolina with a 9-5 loss on Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill.
Freshman right-hander Hunter Colagrande allowed just one run over four innings, and the Seawolves later cut the Tar Heels' lead to 7-5 in the eighth. However, the nationally ranked team secured the victory.
- After Stony Brook went down in order in the first inning, North Carolina got on the scoreboard in their half of the frame with a single to left field. Colagrande stranded two runners to end the inning.
- Colagrande was in a groove through the first four innings. The right-hander stranded two runners in the second, striking out two, and left two more on base in the third to keep the game scoreless.
- After Stony Brook stranded a runner at second base in the fourth and UNC went down in order, the Tar Heels erupted for four runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-0 lead. UNC added two more runs off left-hander Micah Worley in the sixth, extending their advantage to 7-0.
- The Seawolves responded in the seventh. Johnny Pilla led off with a double, followed by a walk from Evan Goforth and a single from Matthew Jackson. Azpilcueta came through with an RBI double to right field, bringing home Pilla and Jackson to make it 7-2.
- Vincent Mariella entered in the seventh for Stony Brook and stranded two runners with a strikeout to end the frame.
- In the eighth, Matt Miceli started the inning with a single and stole second. Chanz Doughty drew a walk, giving Stony Brook two runners on. After back-to-back outs, Goforth launched his first home run of the season, cutting the deficit to 7-5.
- UNC responded with a two-run home run in the eighth, securing the 9-5 win and completing the series sweep.

- Colagrande made his second start of the season, going 4.1 innings while allowing three earned runs and striking out three.
