RICHMOND, Va. – For the seventh time this season, Avery Hines of the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. She previously earned the weekly honor on February 24, March 10, March 24, March 31, April 7, and April 14 (the most by a CAA player this season).
 
Hines' lockdown defensive play continued in the regular season finale as she collected a team-high four caused turnovers and picked up three ground balls against Hofstra.
 
In the 15-5 victory over the Pride, Hines held the CAA's top scorer Nikki Mennella to just two goals in the outing, tying the fewest in a CAA contest this season.
 
Hines leads the CAA in both caused turnovers and ground balls per game, while ranking third in the nation with 3.31 caused turnovers per game.
 
Hines and the No. 1 Seawolves are back in action for the CAA Championship Semifinals on Thursday, May 1 at 12 p.m. as they play host to No. 4 Elon.
