Tennis Opens Fall Season With 19 Match Wins At Columbia Invitational

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook tennis team opened its fall season this weekend at the Columbia Invitational. Showcasing strong performances in both singles and doubles competition, as the Seawolves picked up 19 total match wins across the three days of play.

Stony Brook opened play against tournament host Columbia on Friday and recorded a win in doubles action courtesy of Mia Palladino and Sanjana Devineni.

On Saturday morning, against Wagner, the Seawolves showed up and showed out with 10 match wins over the Seahawks, including a clean sweep of all seven singles matches.

Stony Brook continued its momentum into Sunday with eight match wins against Cornell, highlighted by key clutch performances in doubles competition that secured all four matches for the Seawolves.

Continuing where she left off the season prior, Palladino registered four match wins across the three days of competition, with two in singles and two wins in doubles play. Also posting strong performances were Elena Lobo-Corral, Mila Charles, and Cornelia Bruu-Syversen, who each recorded four match wins at the invitational.

Newcomers Devineni, Laura Ozola, and Paisha Douglas impressed in their Seawolves debut, each winning three matches during the weekend.
