BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Seawolves began their final road trip of the season with a loss on Friday as they fell behind early in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-21) defeat.
Quinn Anderson had the most kills on the team with five, while Ella Sanders paced the defense with three blocks.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The night started off well enough, with Stony Brook taking a 6-5 lead on a Taryn Su ace. This would be the last time the team would lead in the first, however, as the Camels went on a 6-0 run to ttake the lead for good as Stony Brook was held to just five more points the rest of the set.
SET 2 | The second frame played out similarly to the first, as the score sat tied at 7-7 after Sanders and Damisi Osibodu notched two points apiece. With the score knotted up, Campbell soon pulled ahead with six unanswered to make it 13-7. Stony Brook put up just seven more points the rest of the way, two coming on another kill and a block from Sanders.
SET 3 | The Seawolves again took an early lead as three kills from Anderson helped make it 8-7, only for the Camels to once again respond with six in a row to make it 13-8. This time, though, Stony Brook managed to fight back, scoring six straight with two kills each from Avari Amstutz and Mercedes Motton to retake a 19-17 lead. Both teams would go back-and-forth from there, but in the end it was Campbell who rung off four unanswered to take the set.
Notable Stats
- Sanders recorded two kills to bring her to 296 on the year.
- Osibodu had one block today to bring her to 119 on the year, just eight away from breaking into Stony Brook's single-season top 10.
