Ozola Tabbed CAA Player of The Week After Perfect Week Across Singles & Doubles Play

RICHMOND, Va. — Following an undefeated week of play in both singles and doubles action across two matches, freshman Laura Ozola has been named CAA Player of the Week, as announced by the league office this afternoon.

This is the freshman's first career weekly honor, and the Seawolves' first of the season. Ozola was a force to be reckoned with in singles action, winning both matches she played. On Saturday against Army, she won playing at No. 5 singles, defeating Allison Harris, 6-2, 7-5. She followed that up in a come-from-behind victory against Monmouth's Becky Fisher, defeating her 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, helping lead the Seawolves to victory in their CAA opener.

In doubles action, Ozola helped Stony Brook claim the doubles point in both matches, as she, with Mia Palladino, defeated Army 6-3 and Monmouth 6-2.

The Seawolves are back on the court this Saturday when they travel to New Jersey to take on NJIT at 11 am.
