RICHMOND, Va. – The Stony Brook football team placed four student-athletes on the 2026 Preseason All-CAA Football Team, as Miles McGoy, Sebastian Regis, and Anthony Ferrelli earned Preseason All-CAA honors, while Joseph Garcia was named to the Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention Team.

As a team, the Seawolves were picked to finish fifth in the CAA Preseason Coaches Poll.

Ferrelli headlines the group after being named to the 2026 Buck Buchanan Award Watch List and earning Preseason FCS All-America honors from Stats Perform. The linebacker is coming off a career-best 2025 campaign in which he earned CSC Academic All-District and Second Team All-CAA honors after totaling 109 tackles (52 solo, 57 assisted), the fifth-most in the conference and tied for 23rd nationally among FCS players. The California native recorded at least four tackles in every game and reached double figures five times, including a season-high 16 tackles and two tackles for loss against Maine. His 109 tackles tied for the third-most in a single season in program history.

Regis continues to anchor the Seawolves' defensive front after another standout season in 2025. The team captain started all 12 games and finished second on the team with 10.0 tackles for loss while adding 2.5 sacks, 3.0 quarterback hurries, and career highs with 33 total tackles and 19 solo stops. A consistent presence throughout the season, Regis recorded at least one tackle in 11 of 12 contests and registered a tackle for loss in nine games.

McGoy earned his first career All-CAA recognition in 2025 after receiving Honorable Mention honors following a breakout season in the secondary. He posted career highs with 30 tackles (23 solo), eight pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries while recording at least two tackles in 10 of 12 games. McGoy tied for fifth in the CAA in pass breakups and shared the conference lead with two fumble recoveries, a mark that ranked 12th nationally among FCS players.

Garcia earned Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention recognition after emerging as one of the league's top defensive backs last season. He led both the Seawolves and the CAA with four interceptions while totaling 32 tackles (17 solo, 15 assisted) and five pass breakups. Garcia recorded a season-high six tackles and an interception at Maine before adding another interception in a victory over North Carolina A&T. He capped the season with two interceptions against Bryant, becoming the first Seawolf since Nick Chimeneti in 2023 to record multiple interceptions in a game.

Stony Brook football will welcome Seawolves fans back to Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium for Fan Day on Saturday, August 8, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The free event is open to the public and will feature an open practice, a post-practice meet-and-greet where children in eighth grade and under can take the field to meet the team and participate in drills, as well as the opportunity to pick up a 2026 Stony Brook Football schedule poster.
