STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook Athletics hosted the 2026 Stony Brook Athletics Golf Classic on Monday, July 20 at the scenic St. George's Golf and Country Club, bringing together alumni, fans, and friends in support of Seawolves Athletics. The event was proudly presented by title sponsor Diamond Cut Restoration, owned and operated by Stony Brook football alumnus Don Liotine '17, '19.

For the fourth straight year, the event was a complete sellout, featuring more than 150 golfers and over 200 guests in total. Thanks to their generosity, the Stony Brook Athletics Golf Classic raised more than $115,000 to directly benefit the department and its nearly 500 student-athletes for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year.

"I am so grateful to all of our loyal supporters who made this year's event another resounding success. The annual Stony Brook Athletics Golf Classic is not only an important fundraiser for our department, but also an opportunity for our Seawolves family to come together for a fantastic day of celebration," Director of Athletics Shawn Heilbron said.

A highlight of the day included the recognition of the tournament's top-scoring foursome (Andy Kovacs, Jesse Kovacs, Deniz Soysal, Charles Weizenecker) who took home top honors after an outstanding round of golf.

Guests also enjoyed friendly competition through contests such as closest to the pin, longest drive and the fan-favorite "Beat the Seawolf" challenge.

Proceeds from the event will help fund critical resources and opportunities that empower Seawolves to succeed both on and off the field. With each swing, participants played a role in advancing the department's mission to transform the lives of Stony Brook student-athletes.
