Olsen Strikes as Seawolves Earn Draw at Northeastern

BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Stony Brook men's soccer team battled Northeastern to a 1-1 draw Sunday evening at Parsons Field, as Olsen Aluc found the back of the net for the Seawolves. The result moved Stony Brook to 0-0-4 overall and 0-0-2 in conference play.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Seawolves broke through in the 58th minute. Aluc put Stony Brook in front with his first goal of the season off an assist from Alex Fleury, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage. Aluc finished the afternoon with two shots, placing both on goal, while Fleury recorded two shots and added the assist.

Northeastern responded in the 70th minute when Kang scored off assists from Schurz and Duax to level the match at 1-1. Stony Brook continued to push for the go-ahead goal, generating a pair of corner kicks and two shots over the next nine minutes, but the Seawolves were unable to break the deadlock.

Heidar Hermannsson helped keep Stony Brook in the match with a strong performance in goal, making five saves across 90 minutes. The Seawolves defense was particularly tested early in the second half, when Hermannsson made three saves in a span of less than two minutes to keep the match scoreless before Aluc's goal.

Stony Brook finished with 11 shots, including four on goal, while Northeastern registered 16 shots and six on target. The Seawolves held a 7-6 advantage in shots during the opening half before the Huskies generated 10 attempts over the final 45 minutes.

The draw marked Stony Brook's fourth tie through its first four matches of the season.
