George Brown begins his second season on Matt Senk's staff at Stony Brook as the Seawolves' pitching coach.

Brown comes to Stony Brook after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Monmouth University. He also spent one season as an assistant at Siena College.

During his first season with the Seawolves', Brown coached America East Rookie of the Year ad Freshman All-America Bret Clarke and first team all-conference selection Chad Lee. Each won six games on the mound and Lee posted the second best single-season ERA in school history with a 1.97 mark.

Brown, a graduate of St. John's University, pitched four seasons for the Red Storm from 2005 to 2008 and posted a 22-3 career record on the mound with a 2.85 ERA. His 22 wins are the fourth most in the school's history. As a senior, Brown earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year honors, was second-team All-American by Louisville Slugger and the NCBWA, and was named as a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes and Dick Howser National Player of the Year awards.

Following his collegiate career, Brown was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and spent four seasons pitching in their minor league system.
