Stony Brook Seawolves
Matt Miceli Headshot

Matt Miceli

Matt Miceli joined the Stony Brook baseball staff as a student assistant prior to the 2026 season, as announced by Head Coach Jim Martin.

In his first season with the Seawolves, Miceli helped guide the program to a 21-30 overall record and a 13-17 mark in CAA play. Working primarily with the infielders, he played a key role in the development of sophomore infielders Mike Villani, Mike Cervoni, and James Schaffer, who each posted career-best numbers offensively and defensively. Stony Brook turned the fourth-most double plays in the CAA and finished the season with a .960 fielding percentage.

A four-year infielder and team captain at Stony Brook, Miceli appeared in 179 career games with 175 starts at shortstop from 2022-25. A steady defensive presence throughout his career, he helped the Seawolves lead the CAA in double plays turned during his senior season while posting a career-best .974 fielding percentage.

Miceli started every game during both his junior and senior seasons and concluded his playing career with 134 hits, 75 RBI, 95 runs scored, and 41 stolen bases. Recognized for his leadership on and off the field, he earned CAA Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll honors and served as a team captain in 2025.
