    Baseball Volunteer Assistant Coach

Steve Hassan is in his first season as volunteer assistant coach for Stony Brook[apos]s baseball team. Hassan comes to the Seawolves after six seasons as the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at Farmingdale State.

Hassan, under head coach and former Major League catcher Keith Osik, helped turn around a Rams team that was 7-22 in 2005 to 19-19 in 2006 and then blossomed into a five-time Skyline Conference champion. During the five-year title run, Farmingdale State made five NCAA regional appearances and won the regional championship in 2009, leading to a Div. III World Series appearance.

During his tenure at Farmingdale State, Hassan coached 37 All-Conference players, 19 All-Region selections, three Gold Glove winners, one conference Player of the Year, two conference Pitchers of the Year and two Rookies of the Year.

Prior to his success at Farmingdale State, Hassan spent two years at Suffolk Community College and two at Post University.

Hassan, a product of Bellport High School, played collegiate baseball at Suffolk Community College, where he played in the 1999 JUCO World Series, and then at Post University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Post in 2003 and then earned his Master[apos]s in Special Education from Dowling in 2012.
