HONORS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT STONY BROOK
• Became Stony Brook’s Defensive Coordinator in 2017.
• Guided the Seawolves’ defensive that ranked third in the FCS in total defense in 2017.
• The Stony Brook defense ranked first in the FCS with six defensive touchdowns in 2018.

PLAYING CAREER
Was 1975 all-conference selection and co-captain as a senior offensive lineman at Salem College in West Virginia, McIntyre signed a free agent contract with the New England Patriots in 1980 and played in several exhibition games that year.
 
AT STONY BROOK
McIntyre joined the Stony Brook staff in 2011 and served as the inside linebackers coach for his first two seasons before he took over the entire linebacker corps for the next four seasons.
 
In 2017, McIntyre was promoted to the roll of defensive coordinator where he currently serves. He spent the first two seasons also coaching the corner backs and moved back to linebackers for the 2019 season.
 
Stony Brook has consistently ranked among the best defensive units in the FCS during the past several years, including in 2015 when the Seawolves finished in the top 10 in eight defensive statistical categories, including ranking first in total defense.  
 
PRIOR TO STONY BROOK
McIntyre spent 17 seasons on the sidelines at Hofstra from 1989-2005 where he guided seven players that went on to sign NFL contracts. The Pride also reached the post season seven times during his time that included three 10 win seasons.
 
McIntyre coached at West Hempstead High School from 1984 to 1988, serving as head football coach the last four years. His 1986 team at West Hempstead posted an 8-1-1 record and captured the divisional championship. For his efforts, McIntyre was named Conference II Coach of the Year.
 
He also served as defensive coordinator at Perkins High School in Sandusky, Ohio, from 1978 to 1983 and coached on the team that captured the 1983 Sandusky Bay Conference crown. 

NOTABLE STUDENT-ATHLETES UNDER COACH McINTYRE
• LB Shayne Lawless (2014-18) – Lawless earned first team All-CAA Football honors in 2018 and received a spot on the FCS ADA Academic All-Star team. He was also a two-time second team All-CAA Football performer. Lawless finished his career with 35 consecutive starts and ranked fourth in career tackles at Stony Brook with 288, fourth in TFLs with 40.0 and 10th in sacks with 13.5.
• LB Noah McGinty (2014-18) – McGinty led Stony Brook with 94 total tackles in 2018 on his was to third team All-CAA Football. He finished his career ranked tied for fourth in career tackles with 288 and 10th in career tackles for a loss with 31.5.
• DL Victor Ochi (2011-15) - Ochi broke Stony Brook’s career records for both sacks (32.5) and tackles for loss (49.0) during his career with the Seawolves. He was named the CAA Football’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and earned first team All-America honors from College Sports Madness and STATS. Ochi went on to sign with the Baltimore Ravens and played in two games for the New York Jets in 2016.
LB Jawara Dubley (2010-13) – Dudley was a first team All-Big South Conference honoree in 2012 after he recorded 81 total tackles. He was named second team All-CAA Football as a senior in 2013. Dudley finished his ranked third in school history with 265 total tackles.
LB Eric Ringoen (Hofstra) – Selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 10th round of the 1991 NFL Draft.
 
PERSONAL
He and his wife, Anne, have two daughters (Jessamyn and Caitlin) and a son (Sean).
