• Became Stony Brook’s Co-Offensive Coordinator and OL coach in November of 2015.

Was a four-year starter from 1983 to 1986 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
 
AT STONY BROOK
Bache joined the Stony Brook staff as the Co-Offensive Coordinator and OL coach in November of the 2015 season.
 
During his 10 seasons at Stony Brook the Seawolves have combined for 48 wins that includes 10 wins in 2017, an appearance in the second round of the FCS Playoffs, and the largest turnaround in the FCS for the 2024 season. 
 
In 2024, Bache helped the the team improve from 15.2 points per game in 2023 to 29.6 points per game in 2024. Total offensive yardage jumped from 314.2 to 403.9 yards per game, including a surge in rushing yards from 104.1 to 170.3 and passing yards from 210.1 to 223.6. The team's touchdown count skyrocketed from 19 in 2023 to 44 in 2024. The offensive line also guided running back Roland Dempster a nomination for the Walter Payton Award, becoming just the second player in program history to receive the honor. On the OL, Niko Papic was named to the All-CAA Third Team. 

He helped guide the 2017 offensive unit average 28.5 points per game and post four players on the first team All-CAA Football team. Bache also coached All-American left tackle Timon Parris.
 
The Seawolves returned to the FCS Playoffs in 2018 with seven wins. They averaged 26.8 points per game and finished first in the CAA in rushing offense. Offensive lineman Kyle Nunez was named freshman All-American and second team All-CAA Football. 

Nunez has gone on to earn All-CAA Football honors in 2019, 2020-21, and 2021. He was twice named to the All-CAA Second Team and was tabbed to the All-CAA First Team in 2020-21. Bache also coached running back Ty Son Lawton, who was selected to the All-CAA First Team in 2021 after leading the conference in rushing with 1,088 yards. 
 
PRIOR TO STONY BROOK
Bache (pronounced bay-jay) joined Stony Brook in November of 2015 after spending the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Ferrum College in Virginia.

Prior to his time at Ferrum, Bache was the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Kent State for three seasons. During his time with at Kent State, the Golden Flashes earned a bid to the GoDaddy.com Bowl following a MAC title in 2013.
 
Prior to his arrival at Kent State, Bache spent a year at Adrian College in Michigan, and five seasons at Youngstown State in Ohio. His previous coaching stops include six seasons at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, four seasons at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, five seasons at the College of Wooster in Ohio and one season at Temple University. He helped lead IUP to four conference titles and three NCAA Division II playoff berths, including a national semi-finalist appearance in the 1999 NCAA Div. II playoffs.
 
Bache also helped lead Youngstown State to the FCS national semi-finals in 2006. The Penguins won the Missouri Valley Conference title that season and in 2005.
 
NOTABLE STUDENT-ATHLETES UNDER COACH BACHE
• OL Nico Papic (2019-Present)  – A third team All-CAA honoree in 2024, Papic helped the team nearly double their scoring output from the previous season - climbing from 15.2 to 29.6 points per game. Stony Brook’s total yardage soared to 403.9 yards per game, up from 314.2. The ground game saw the biggest leap, jumping from 104.1 to 170.3 rushing yards per contest, while the passing offense added nearly 14 yards more per game, rising to 223.6. Overall, the Seawolves found the end zone 44 times—more than doubling their 2023 total of 19 touchdowns.
• RB Roland Dempster (2020-Present)  – The Walter Payton Award finalist and First Team All-CAA recipient rushed for a career-high 1,332 yards on 268 carries and tallied 18 touchdowns in 2024. Nationally, Dempster ranked third in the FCS and second in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in total touchdowns. He also led the CAA in total rushing yards and rushing yards per game, finishing in the top five nationally in both categories, while ranking ninth in all-purpose yards per game. His 2024 totals include the fourth-highest single-season rushing yardage, the second-most rushing touchdowns, and the third-most total touchdowns in program history.
• RB Ty Son Lawton (2018-23) – Lawton had a standout 2021 season as he won the CAA rushing title after he racked up 1,088 yards on the ground on his way to being named to the All-CAA First Team. Lawton was second in the conference in rushing touchdowns with 10 and led the league in yards per game with 98.9. 
• OL Kyle Nunez (2018-22) – Nunez earned HERO Sports Freshman All-American honors in 2018 and was named second team All-CAA Football in both 2018, 2019, and 2021. He was seleected to the All-CAA First Team in 2020-21. 
• OL Timon Parris (2014-17) – Parris left Stony Brook as one of the most decorated players in the program’s history, having been named first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association and College Sports Madness and second team by the Associated Press and STATS following the 2017 season. He signed with the Washington Redskins and became Stony Brook’s third player to play in an NFL when he was activated from the practice squad late in 2018.
• OL Chris Infantino (2014-18) – Infantino was the recipient of the 2018 Doris Robinson Student-Athlete Award that is given annually by STATS to an FCS student-athlete who excels not only in the classroom, but also in the community and beyond. Infantino was also honor by CAA Football with the prestigious Chuck Boone Leadership and Excellence Award, an honor that embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity, teamwork and sportsmanship in academics and athletics.
• OL Brian Winters (Kent State) – Named first team All-MAC honors as a senior. Started every game of his career on the offensive line. Winters was drafted by the New York Jets in the third round with the 72nd overall pick in the 2013 draft.
• OL Josh Kline (Kent State) – Earned second team All-MAC honors as a senior and helped guide the Golden Flashes to the MAC Championship and an appearance in the GoGaddy.com Bowl. Kline has played for the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans and is currently a member of the Minnesota Vikings.
 
PERSONAL
Bache is the father of three girls, Katelyn, Kirsten and Karlie. Katelyn’s will be a sophomore at Bowling Green, while Kirsten and Karlie are attending high school in Ohio.
