Hemsley comes to Stony Brook after spending three years as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at George Washington University. She assumes the same title at Stony Brook, working specifically with the football team.
At GW, Hemsley worked primarily with softball and men's and women's tennis, while also assisting with baseball, men's basketball, men's crew, women's lacrosse, volleyball and men's and women's soccer.Â
Before her time at George Washington, Hemsley was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Georgia State University, working primarily with softball, tennis and football, while assisting with basketball, cheerleading, cross country and volleyball.
Hemsley worked at the NFL Regional Combine in Atlanta, Ga. in 2013, providing medical attention for the athletes participating in the combine. She also interned with the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA in 2012.
Hemsley, a National Athletic Trainers' Association Member and Certified Athletic Trainer, graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training in 2011 and received a master's degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University in 2013.
She is an American Red Cross CPR/AED/ for Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers and an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor.
