Joel Lynch joined the Stony Brook athletic performance staff in May 2017. He directly works with football, and men’s and women’s track & field.
Prior to Stony Brook, Lynch worked as a performance enhancement coach at Drive 495 in New York City, where he trained collegiate athletes and professional golfers. Preceding his time there, Lynch worked as an intern strength and conditioning coach at the University of Arizona. He was directly responsible for assisting with football, men’s and women’s tennis, golf, women’s basketball and baseball.
Before his time at the University of Arizona Lynch worked at Bishop George Ahr High School (Edison, New Jersey), as a strength and conditioning coach, and assistant football coach. Prior to that Lynch began his strength and conditioning career at Ithaca College. He was a volunteer coach working with football, track & field and crew.
Lynch earned his Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science from Ithaca College. He was a four-year member of the football team as a wide receiver, and a two-year member of the track & field team as a sprinter and hurdler.
Lynch is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting (USAW), Precision Nutrition (Pn1), Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms), and CPR/AED certified through the American Red Cross.
