AT STONY BROOK
Since joining the Stony Brook staff in 2013, King has helped guide the Seawolves to back-to-back FCS Playoff appearances (2017 and 2018) and become a consistent program in the top 25 rankings.
In 2018, Stony Brook led the CAA and placed 30
th in the nation with just over 200 yards per game behind the “Long Island Express” duo of Donald Liotine and Jordan Gowins.
The 2017 campaign was a very successful season for the Seawolves with a program record-tying 10 wins. Stony Brook also claimed a program-best seven conference wins and placed second in the CAA with a 7-1 mark. The Seawolves' offense finished third in the CAA in scoring offense with 26.8 points per game.
PRIOR TO STONY BROOK
Before coming to Stony Brook, King spent the 2013 season as the wide receivers coach at the University of Rhode Island, a member of the CAA.
Prior to Rhode Island King was the running backs coach at Division II powerhouse LIU Post from 2007- 2012. He helped implement a fast-paced, no-huddle offense that, in 2009, was ranked Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s top-ranked rushing offense. During his time at LIU Post, the Pioneers went from the bottom of the conference in 2008 to co-champions in 2011. In addition to coaching the running backs, he also was the team’s video and academic Coordinator
Before joining the staff at LIU Post, King was the running backs coach and special teams coordinator at Iona College from 2002-07.
King began his coaching career and spent three seasons at his alma mater Holy Cross H.S. in Flushing, N.Y. At Holy Cross he served as both running backs coach and offensive coordinator.
NOTABLE STUDENT-ATHLETES UNDER COACH KING

Ross Tallarico (2020-) – Tallarico converted from a defensive back in 2022 and emerged the team's leading rusher with 602 yards on 158 carries. He averaged 115.7 yards per game and scored three touchdowns across the final three games of the season.

RB Ty Son Lawton (2018-22) – Lawton rushed for 2,102 yards on 457 carries and scored 21 touchdowns in 27 career games as a Seawolf, averaging 77.9 rushing yards per game. In 2021, Lawton led the CAA with 1,088 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns across 11 games, and was named First Team All-CAA. He put up 10 career performances of 100+ yards at Stony Brook

RB Donald Liotine (2013-18) – Liotine finished his Stony Brook career ranked fourth in career rushing yards (2826), third in career carries (583), fourth in rushing touchdowns (23) and fourth in all-purpose yards (4077). In 2018 he earned first team All-CAA Football and was selected to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team. Liotine became the Seawolves’ first 1,000-yard rusher in a season since 2014 when he gained 1,148 in 2018.

RB Jordan Gowins (2016-18) – Gowins earned second team All-CAA Football in 2018 after he rushed for 995 yards and eight touchdowns. He completed his three years at Stony Brook with 1,921 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

RB Stacey Bedell (2014-17) – Bedell finished his career third in Stony Brook history with 2,954 rushing yards and his 31 rushing touchdowns placed him second. He earned first team All-CAA Football in 2017 after he rushed for 835 yards and eight touchdowns.
•
DB Naim Cheeseboro (2014-15) – Cheeseboro recorded 76 total tackles to place second on the team in his first season in 2014 and went on to lead the Seawolves in 2015 with 52 total tackles.
