Jason Nielsen

Jason Nielsen began as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Stony Brook University in January of 2024. He primarily works with football.

Nielsen served in the United States Marine Corps from 2012-17. He served one deployment in Afghanistan, where he was security for high-ranking officers and a combat lifesaver (medic) for his unit. Nielsen was honorably discharged in August of 2017 to pursue a future in Athletic Training.

Nielsen received both his Bachelor's degree (Integrative Physiology) and Master’s degree (Athletic Training) at the University of Montana and became BOC certified in June of 2022. He began working at Texas A&M University Commerce as an assistant Athletic Trainer for football and track & field in July of 2022.

Looking to relocate and work in a stable environment with a great sports medicine team, he relocated to Long Island to work at Stony Brook University, where his wife was born (Bay Shore) and most of her family lives.
