Jake Ness joined the Stony Brook men's basketball staff in the summer of 2018 as the Director of Basketball Operations. He previously worked with the Dallas Mavericks as a player development assistant.Â
Ness spent one year with the Mavericks, assisting the coaching staff in practice and with player workouts, participating in scout team drills for gameday preparation. He also helped with scouting, film breakdown and strength and conditioning.Â
Prior to his time in Dallas, Ness served as an assistant coach and strength and conditioning coach at Hargrave Military Academy with the post-graduate team. Ness helped guide the Tigers to a National Prep Championship in 2016 and a Final Four appearance in 2017, putting together an 89-3 record over his two seasons on staff at Hargrave.Â
Ness played two years of post-grad basketball at Hargrave before spending three seasons at Boise State. The Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, native was a member of the Broncos' 2013 and 2015 NCAA Tournament teams, also earning multiple NABC Honors Court and Mountain West Conference academic awards. He graduated with a degree in psychology from Boise State in 2015 and earned his Masters in athletic administration from Washington State in 2017. Ness was inducted into the post-grad Hall of Fame in 2015.
