Daniel Leonard

Daniel Leonard joined the Stony Brook University Sports Medicine staff in August 2016, serving as the certified athletic trainer for men’s basketball. 

Leonard, a Harrisburg, PA native, spent 2014-2016 at Southeastern Louisiana University as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer. During his time with the Lions, he provided treatment, rehabilitation, evaluation and coverage for the men’s basketball and men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs.

Leonard received his bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2014 from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where he worked with the Golden Rams’ men’s soccer and women’s gymnastics programs as an athletic training student. He later earned his master’s degree in exercise science in 2016 from Southeastern Louisiana University.

He became certified by the Board of Certification in 2014 and has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association since 2013. Leonard is certified through the American Red Cross for First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and is also certified as an Instructor.
