Larry Kline joined the Stony Brook staff in September of 2017 as an assistant coach. He previously served as an assistant coach at UMass Lowell in for two seasons after spending the 2014-15 athletic season as a sports performance assistant with the River Hawks.
In his first season at Stony Brook he helped guide the Seawolves to their fifth America East regular season title in program history and 17th consecutive appearance at the America East Championships appearance.Â
Kline spent three years at Washington College as both an assistant men's lacrosse coach and as an assistant director of the JFC and Strength and Conditioning. As a coach specializing in goalie development, Kline educated two All-Conference goalies (Peter Stewart '12, Ted DiSalvo '14) and helped lead the Shoremen to the Division III National Semifinals in 2014.
Before his move to Washington College, Kline was an assistant coach in 2011 for his alma mater, Binghamton University. As a player, Kline was a goalie and four-year captain for the Bearcats, helping lead them to America East Tournament in each season. Kline ranks third all-time in school history in goals against average (9.20), second in saves (384), third in save percentage (.522) and third in wins (11). He was a three-year member of both the America East All-Academic Team and the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll.
A Dean's List student at Binghamton, Kline earned a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Law from the school in 2008, graduating cum laude. After graduation, he spent two years as a staff assistant and systems administrator in the office of Congressman John Tierney (MA-06) in Washington, D.C. Kline continued his education while at Washington College, earning his M.A. in Psychology in 2013.
