Before SBU: Attended the Darlington School in Rome, Ga., in 2010-11 and previously was at Instituto Cumbres de Caracas in Venezuela...was co-captain of the soccer team...was a member of the U-15 and U-17 Venezuelan national teams.

Personal: Armando Andres Zapata Mendez...born Jan. 22, 1992...his father, Antonio, played soccer at TCU, and his uncle, Jose, played soccer at Florida International...wishes he could meet Nelson Mandela.
