Biography

2022 (Graduate)
Started 12 games in graduate season… made season debut playing all 90 minutes on opening day at LIU on August 25th… started and played all 90 minutes vs. rival Hofstra in program’s first ever CAA victory on September 3rd… scored eventual game-winning goal in 32nd minute at Columbia in eventual 2-1 win on September 6th…goal was second of his career… started and played all 90 minutes in CAA win in 2-0 victory against Charleston on October 8th…played 1,025 minutes on the year, one of seven players on the squad to register over 1,000 minutes played ... 2022 CAA Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll. 

2021 (Senior)
Enjoyed fantastic senior season with 13 starts in all 13 games he played in… veteran presence helped Stony Brook earn first postseason berth since his true freshman season in 2018… didn’t play in first two games of the year but made season debut playing all 101 minutes in thrilling road overtime win at Drexel on September 3rd… would start final 13 games of the season… played in all 110 minutes of America East tournament match that went to penalties vs. UMBC on November 6th. 

2020-21 (Junior)
Appeared in two matches (one start).

2019 (Sophomore)
Played in 16 matches, starting 13 ... took five shots while playing a key defensive role ... had a shot on goal in the season finale against UMBC on Nov. 6 ... played 1,185 minutes ... America East Fall Honor Roll.

2018 (Freshman)
Saw action in 11 matches, starting 10...scored first career goal in a 4-0 win over UMass Lowell on Sept. 28...earned America East Rookie of the Week honors once.

Before Stony Brook: Prior to joining the Seawolves, Payne played left/right/center back for St. Benedict’s College (five years) and Naparima College (three years) – two secondary schools in Trinidad and Tobago. Payne served as Naparima team captain in 2017, earning All-Star Male defender honors for his performance. The defender scored four times in his final year with the program.
