Stony Brook Seawolves

Alioune Ndiaye

Stony Brook head women’s basketball coach Caroline McCombs announced the addition of Alioune Ndiaye as the Seawolves’ director of basketball operations prior to the start of the 2017-18 season.

In 2017-18, Ndiaye helped guide the Seawolves to 18 total wins - the program's most victories since the 2013-14 season. Stony Brook won 10 of its final 13 regular-season contests, earning victories in five-straight conference games heading into the postseason tournament. The 2017-18 Seawolves set a new program record for most 3-pointers made in a single season (190), and largest single-game margin of victory (+51, vs. Farmingdale State).

Ndiaye returns to Long Island after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio). With the Redhawks, Ndiaye’s duties included working with Miami’s post players, leading international recruiting, and expanding the Redhawks’ community service efforts.

“I want to thank Coach McCombs for this great opportunity,” said Ndiaye. “I am eager to join her staff as I strongly believe in her coaching philosophy. My family and I are so excited to be Seawolves and to be back home on Long Island.”

Prior to Miami, Ndiaye worked for two years as the video coordinator at St. John’s. The Red Storm advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2014 and the WNIT round of 16 in 2015 as St. John’s went 46-22 in Ndiaye’s two seasons in Queens. Ndiaye began his coaching career with two seasons at his alma mater, Dowling College, as the Golden Lions went 52-11 from 2011-13 with an appearance in the 2013 Division II national championship game.

Ndiaye was a three-year letterwinner at Dowling from 2007-10 and holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Dowling. The Senegal native is fluent in Englsh, French, Wolof and Spanish. Ndiaye and his wife Danielle have three children, daughters Lailah and Milania and son Isaiah.
