Stony Brook women’s basketball head coach Joy McCorvey announced the addition of Willie Rosales to the program as a graduate assistant on her staff.
Rosales comes to the Island from St. John’s University where he served as the Head Team Manager since October 2020. He assisted the coaching staff with day-to-day office work including film breakdown, equipment operations, and hospitality management. He also helped as a practice player with individual workouts, training sessions, and high intensity practices, while managing the game clock and documenting player statistics. He was responsible for game day set up for both home and away games, as well as intercepting opposing play calls throughout each contest. During the off-season, he assisted in the execution of the Red Storm camps.
In the summer of 2023, Rosales assisted with the Joe Tartamella Basketball Camp, mentoring and coaching the young athletes in attendance. He was responsible for set up and cleanup of the facilities, and planning and executing the day-to-day for all campers ages 6-14.
Recently, Rosales worked as an Instructor and the Camp Commissioner for the Nike All-Skills Basketball Camp hosted at Stony Brook. He was responsible for the teaching of fundamentals and some advanced skills, while keeping the campers engaged in a fun, yet safe and comforting environment.
Rosales graduated in May of 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from St. John’s.
