Shannon Grogan

Grogan was elevated to Associate Head Coach / Recruiting Coordinator on May 13, 2024, after serving on the Seawolves' staff since 2018 as a volunteer coach, assistant coach, and recruiting coordinator for the squad.

This past season, Grogan helped guide the Seawolves to a 14-4-3 record, following a strong regular season that saw Stony Brook clinch a share of the regular season championship. The Seawolves won their first-ever CAA Championship, defeating top-seeded Monmouth 2-1 and punching a ticket to the NCAA tournament for a fifth time in program history. Grogan helped four players earn All-CAA honors in 2024, in addition to Linn Beck receiving the first major award in the program’s time in the CAA, being named CAA Co-Midfielder of the Year.

Grogan began her coaching career with the Seawolves in 2018 as a volunteer assistant coach. Grogan helped guide the team to 11 wins during that season, including a victory over Pac-12 foe Oregon State, and secured an America East Regular Season title.

In her first full season as an assistant coach, Grogan pushed the Seawolves to new heights in 2019. She played a vital part in helping the team lead the league in assists, goals, and points during the campaign. The squad earned their second America East Championship in three years and punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, where they registered the program's first-ever goal in the NCAA Tournament against Penn State.

With its 14th win of the year in the title game over Hartford in 2019, the Seawolves tied a school record for the most wins in a single season. The conference named Grogan, along with Bischof and the Seawolves' staff, the 2019 America East Staff of the Year. Following Stony Brook's return to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four seasons after earning the America East championship in the spring of 2021, the Seawolves won seven games in the fall of 2021 before they embarked on their journey into the CAA in 2022.

Grogan helped the team in their first year in the conference to seven wins, including four in the CAA, to help the squad punch their ticket into the conference tournament for the first time in program history. The Seawolves returned to the CAA Tournament in 2023 after they earned another four wins in league play.

During her time on the Island, Grogan has helped 13 players earn All-Conference honors, including AE Goalkeeper of the Year Sofia Manner, AE Defender of the Year Kimmy Chavkin, and AE Striker of the Year Alyssa Francese.

Before joining the Seawolves coaching staff, Grogan coached the U12 and U13 teams for NY Surf Soccer during the 2018-19 campaign, winning the NYCSL NPL Championship with the U13 team. Her other club experience includes currently coaching Farmingdale SC/East Meadow SC's U15 and U18 Girls ERCL teams. She also coached the FC Tampa Rangers U17 and U13 Girls teams between 2016-18.

The New Jersey native was instrumental during her time as a player for Stony Brook. She appeared in 71 games during her four seasons, leading the Seawolves to an America East Tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth in 2012, and guided the program to its first regular season title in 2013. She served as a captain on the 2013 and 2014 teams. During her playing career, she also made appearances for WPSL's Jersey Blues FC in 2012 and 2013 and the Tampa Bay Hellenic in 2016.

Grogan graduated from Stony Brook in 2015 with a degree in coastal environmental studies and earned her Master's degree in biology at the University of South Florida.
