Sydney Blomquist joined the Seawolves' staff as an assistant coach in February 2026. Blomquist came to Long Island after one season on staff at Florida Gulf Coast University.
In her lone season in Fort Myers with FGCU, Blomquist helped the Eagles to 11 overall wins and an 8-1-1 mark in conference play and a 2025 ASUN Graphite Division Championship. FGCU scored 49 goals in 18 games, ending regular season play as the sixth-best scoring offense in the country. Blomquist supported the development of five all-conference players, including the 2025 ASUN Player of the Year, Erika Zschuppe.
Blomquist arrived at FGCU following a nine-year professional career, having competed in top leagues around the world. Her most recent professional stint was with SC Telstar in the top Dutch professional league (Vrouwen Eredivisie). Prior to her season in the Netherlands, Blomquist played for Detroit City FC in the United States, where she earned 'Black Arrow' honors as the team's most valuable player.
Blomquist also played professionally in Norway, France, Brazil, Portugal, Finland and Sweden. During her time in Brazil, her team claimed their second Copa Libertadores Championship. While with Åland United in Finland, she helped lead the team to a bronze-medal finish in the Finnish Cup. In Sweden, she guided Västerås BK30 to a 2016 championship and a promotion.
Blomquist played collegiately at the University of Akron and the University of Louisville. While with the Cardinals, she helped the team win a Big East Regular Season Championship and reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
