Vincent Cagliostro

Vincent Cagliostro is in his third year and first year as the Director of Athletic Performance for Football at Stony Brook University. He is responsible for all aspects of the Stony Brook Football Athletic Performance program. He also reports directly to the Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Performance. Cagliostro is also in charge of all return to play protocols for athletes returning from surgery as well as FMS of all in-coming athletes.

In Cagliostro’s second season with Stony Brook he assisted in leading the team to a 7-4 season, 5-3 CAA record. They returned to the playoffs for a second consecutive year while finishing ranked 16th in the STATS FCS poll.

During Cagliostro’s first season he assisted in guiding Stony Brook to a 10-3 season, a 7-1 record in the CAA Football standings and returned to the NCAA Division I Football playoffs. Stony Brook Football finished ranked 11th at the end of the year.

Prior to arriving Stony Brook, Cagliostro was at Rutgers University where he served as Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports. At Rutgers, Vincent’s primary responsibilities were all training aspects of wrestling and women’s volleyball. His other duties included weight room maintenance and nutrition program at the wrestling and volleyball weight room. He was also in charge of the Olympic Strength and Conditioning Internship Program at Rutgers.

While at Rutgers, wrestling finished ranked No. 10 in the country, while also setting a program record of 10 NCAA qualifiers after its first ever Big 10 Champion in the 141 weight class during the 2015-16 season. Four wrestlers were named All-Americans, with two being honored during the 2015-16 season.

Prior to Cagliostro’s tenure at Rutgers he had a stop with the Chicago Bears during the 2011-12 League year. During his time with the Chicago Bears he worked under Rusty Jones and Jim Arthur. His primary responsibilities were assisting with the off-season, preseason, and in-season training programs. Cagliostro assisted in FMS of all arriving players, implementing all aspects of the nutrition program, educating all arriving players on workouts and conditioning programs.

Cagliostro was also in charge of rookie development when arriving in Chicago for off-season workouts which consisted of movement, flexibility, core development and program education.  

Cagliostro got his start in the field as an undergraduate student at Springfield College in Massachusetts. He served a 500-plus hour internship at EXOS (Formally Athletes’ Performance) in Frisco, Texas, during the 2009-10 school year. Cagliostro completed his undergraduate degree in May of 2010 and went directly into the graduate program at Springfield College, where he assisted in all aspects of strength and conditioning for the student-athletes at Springfield. While earning his graduate degree he completed internships with University of Massachusetts and the Chicago Bears.  Cagliostro graduated from Springfield with a Masters in strength and conditioning in the May of 2013.

Cagliostro is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the NSCA while also having certifications in Functional Movement screening (FMS); Precision Nutrition (Pn1); and Certified Sports Performance Coach through United States Weight Lifting (USAW). He is also certified in CPR/AED and First Aid through American Red Cross.
