Jesse Lewandowski hit a solo homerun in the ninth inning, capping off a six-run comeback as St. Peter's defeated Stony Brook, 8-7, Thursday afternoon at Seawolves field. The Peacocks (7-31) snapped a nine-game losing streak and have now won both meetings with the Seawolves.
Stony Brook took a 3-1 advantage in the third inning keyed by Craig Ansman's RBI double and Chris Manna's sacrifice fly. The Pack added tow more in each of the fifth and sixth innings on homeruns by Manna and John Salmon to take a 7-2 lead.
The Peacocks came back in the seventh inning with five runs. Eric Calleja had an RBI single, chasing starter Mike Kinney. With runner on first and third, reliever Nick Poltrack hit Ryan Knapp and walked Josh Pinneiro, making the score 7-4. Eric Lomot came in to pitch for Stony Brook, giving up RBI singles to Ramon Camejo and Lewandowski. Larry Gonnello capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly to tie the score at 7-7.
Tom Moller (2-1) came out of the bullpen in the seventh inning and shut down the Seawolves for the victory. He allowed just three hits and struck out three.
Kevin Willi (4-2) lost his bid for a victory on the third straight day, giving up the homerun to Lewandowski in the ninth.
