The Stony Brook women's soccer team fell for the third consecutive time Thursday afternoon, losing at Temple, 3-0. The Seawolves started the season 3-0-1, but have since fallen to Fordham, Yale and Temple.
The Owls jumped out to an early lead after forward Julie Marx slid the ball past Stony Brook goalie Renee Pelletier at 25:29. The Seawolves kept tremendous offensive pressure on the Owls, resulting in nine corner kicks on the afternoon. The Seawolves however, could convert on only one of those opportunities.
The Seawolves struck early in the second half on an unassisted Beth Arikian goal (48:57). Brook Cholaj answered with the unassisted game-winning goal at 68:04 to put Temple ahead for good 2-1. Five minutes later, Marx found the back of the net again at 74:09 with an assist from sophomore Brenda Gore for an insurance goal. Cholaj, assisted by senior Marx would score once more just three minutes later (77:16) to take the game 4-1.
Owls' goalkeeper Courtney Woytowicz faced 15 shots and made seven saves. Pelletier made six saves for the Seawolves.
Temple now stands at 4-2-0 on the season, while Stony Brook falls to 3-3-1.
