Final Stats

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Kristin Lynch headed in two goals off corner kicks to give Stony Brook a 2-1 upset win over Columbia Tuesday afternoon at University Field. The Seawolves have now won three of their last four games to improve their record to 3-10-2 on the year while Columbia falls to 9-5.

Lynch got the Seawolves on the board first, heading in a Kerri McCabe corner kick at 15:15. The Lions leveled the game at one in the 27th minute on an outstanding individual effort by Lauren Papalia who weaved her way through several Stony Brook defenders before slipping a shot past the Seawolves Lori Nelson.

Lynch put the Seawolves ahead to stay on almost an identical play in the 31st minute. McCabe again served a corner kick into the penalty area that Lynch headed home for the game-winner.

Nelson made six saves to earn the win for Stony Brook.

The Seawolves are back in action this Friday when they host America East foe Drexel. Kick-off is 12:00 p.m.
