Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Stony Brook plays its second straight home match this week against an America East opponent. It is the Seawolves third home game this season.
SATURDAY'S OPPONENT: The Catamounts come into today's game with a 3-5-1 overall record, 2-1 in America East play. Vermont beat up on Albany on Thursday, handing the Lady Danes a 5-1 defeat. Kelly Herrero and Lauren Donagher each scored a pair of goals in the win. Herrero leads the team in scoring with six goals. Nikkie Hessney is second with three goals and three assists. Brooke Fairbanks has started all eight games in goal, boasting a 1.79 goals against average.
LOOKING FOR THE FIRST: Stony Brook looks to break through and post its first ever conference win today. A independent for the first 12 years of Division I action, SB has never had a conference victory.
HOME SWEET HOME: Stony Brook's second straight home game may come as a shock to the team after going 34 days without a home game before Thursday's contest against Hartford. In the span, the Seawolves played six straight games on the road in what amounted to the longest stretch between home games in the program's history.
SERIES RECORD Vermont had won all eight meetings between the two teams, the last win coming on September 20, 1997.
JESS COMES THROUGH: Reserve forward Jessica Enes showed on Thursday why she has been getting more and more playing time recently. Providing a spark off the bench, Enes notched SB's only goal of the afternoon when she knocked home the rebound of a Kerri McCabe shot that hit the left post. It was her first collegiate goal.
STRIKING FIRST: The Seawolves will look to change their fortunes by getting on the board first today. SB is 0-6 in games where the opponent has scored first. In games where the Seawolves have scord first, SB has earned two ties.
A CHANCE TO MOVE UP: Despite being winless in conference play, only three points separate six teams in the America East. A win today would vault SB into a tie with New Hampshire and Northeastern.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: After this weekend, the Seawolves hit the road for three straight games. They will take on Army on Monday night before traveling to Towson and Delaware next weekend for a pair of pivotal conference matchups. Stony Brook plays a record 12 road games this year.
