Stony Brook vs. Albany Game Notes
SEASON FINALE: Well, it hardly seems like almost three months ago that the 2001 women's booters departed for Europe to prepare for the upcoming season. Time has flown by and today the Seawolves wrap up the 2001 season against in-state rival Albany.
THANK YOU SENIORS: Stony Brook women's soccer bids farewell to three seniors today who have left a big mark on the program. Kristin Lynch, Lisa Mariano and Kerri McCabe carried Stony Brook through its first scholarship years and its first ever postseason berth at the Division I level in 1998.
IT'S NOT HOW YOU START... but how you finish that counts. The Seawolves struggled through the first 11 games, but showed plenty of heart by fighting through the lean times to set a foundation for success to build on next year. After starting 0-9-2, the Seawolves have roared to the finish line, winning five of their last seven. The two losses were by one goal, including a 3-2 overtime loss to Hofstra.
NEWS AND NOTES: The Seawolves' 2-1 win over St. John's on Wednesday was their first over SJU since 1998 . . . Beth Arikian scored her second game-winning goal of the season in that contest off a direct kick. Krisha Zagura notched her fifth goal of the year in the win . . . last Sunday's loss to Hofstra eliminated SB from America East playoff contention . . . SB's non-conference opponents have a combined record of 58-48-8 this season.

Lisa, Lisa- Lisa Mariano - Naugatuck, Conn.: One of this year's co-captains, the four-year starter at back has played in 64 games in four seasons, starting 58. She bounced back this season after suffering a knee injury last year that caused her to miss seven games. Despite missing seven games, she recorded a career high with seven points last season. She has scored six career goals, her first being a gamewinner against Fordham during her freshman season. In 1999, she earned team Most Valuable Player honors. A two-time Holiday Inn Express All-Tournament selection, she was also named to the Florida Atlantic All-Tournament team in 1999.
Engine, Engine, Number 9 - Kerri McCabe - Farmingville, N.Y.: McCabe, a 2001 co-captain, started 62 games and will close out her career as one of the most prolific scorers in the program's history. A walk-on in her freshman season, her outstanding play earned her a scholarship by her senior year. After scoring seven goals through her first two seasons, McCabe exploded for 13 goals and six assists as a junior which earned her Independent Co-Player of the Year and First Team All-Independent honors. During the 2000 campaign, she led the team with four-game winning goals and put together a stretch where she scored in seven consecutive games.
