Softball Opens Season With 3-1 Win Over Central Connecticut

Orlando, Fla. - Stephanie Poetzsch pitched a complete game and Christie McMurray belted a homer as Stony Brook earned a 3-1 win over Central Connecticut in the season opener at the Rebel Games in Orlando, Fla.

Tory Menchise went 2-for-4 with two doubles and Jen Milito was 3-for-3 with a double and a run batted in to get Stony Brook off to a winning start under first-year head coach Megan Bryant. It took the Seawolves 11 games to earn their first win last season.

The Seawolves (1-0) take on UMBC later this afternoon.
