Orlando, Fla. -
Despite the gray skies overhead in normally sunny Florida, the sun seems to be shining on the Stony Brook softball team. SB won its third in a row as staff ace Stephanie Poetzch fired her second straight shutout to lead the Seawolves to a 1-0 win over Augustana Wednesday morning.
After Corinne Vish opened the game with a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball, Tricia Lipareli knocked her home to give SB a 1-0 lead. That would be all Poetzsch would need as she made that run stand up while extending her consecutive scoreless innings streak to 20. She struck out six Augustana hitters along the way.
Stony Brook improves to 4-1 on the year and takes on Southern Connecticut later today. The four wins already matches its entire win total from last season.
