Box Score

After a successful first week at the Rebel Games, the Stony Brook softball team has struggled, suffering its second sweep of the week on Thursday as the Seawolves fell to Manhattan on the road, 1-0 and 4-2. The Seawolves' record drops to 7-7 on the season.

In game one, Jasper pitcher Candice Aulogia allowed just three hits and struck out four as Stony Brook could not manage to get any offense going. Michelle Chiappa's RBI double in the second inning stood up for the Jaspers as they held on for the 1-0 win. Stony Brook pitcher Stephanie Poetzsch allowed just four hits and struck out five, but saw her overall record this year fall to 5-3.

In game two, Manhattan got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first as the Jaspers raced to a 4-0 lead. An RBI triple by Suzanne Masotto and a single by Erin McNamara gave Manhattan the early lead. The Seawolves countered in the fourth inning as Christie McMurray's two-run double pulled SBU to within 4-2. However, that would be as close as the Seawolves would get.

Manhattan improved to 8-8 overall with the wins.

Stony Brook returns to the field on Sunday, April 1, as the Seawolves travel to face a double-header at Yale that begins at noon.
