Jason Brock went eight innings and allowed four hits and George Kearnes had a pair of homeruns in leading Stony Brook (14-10) to a 12-2 win over Wagner (7-13-1) Wednesday afternoon at Seawolves Field. The win was the fifth in seven games for the Pack.
Stony Brook led off the first inning with five straight hits and four runs, highlighted by a two-run homerun by Alex Trezza (13) and a solo shot by Kearnes (7). Wagner closed the gap to 4-1 in the second inning when Brian Flynn singled home Jamie Scholz.
Stony Brook struck for two more in the fifth inning as Dwayne Whitaker doubled home Garrett Renner and Trezza. Wagner starter Keith Ratcliffe left after the fifth and was credited with the loss. He gave up nine hits and six earned runs.
Kearnes's second homerun followed in the seventh inning - a solo homerun to left-center field off reliever Joe Kralijev that made the score 7-1.
Jimmy McCurdy had two RBI and Renner, Kearnes and Rich Graham each had an RBI as Stony Brook scored five in the eighth to put the game away.
Stony Brook now leads the series with the Seahawks, 4-0.
The Seawolves head to St. John's tomorrow afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. game.
