Binghamton Takes Pair From Stony Brook Softball

Binghamton, NY - Freshman designated player Christine Sweeny delivered a 10th inning doubles in the first game and freshman pitcher Michelle Weeks pitched a one-hitter in game two, leading Binghamton (5-15) to a sweep of Stony Brook (10-12) Saturday. The Bearcats won game one, 1-0 (10), and took the second game, 2-0.

Junior pitcher Stephanie Poetzsch gave up just four hits and one unearned run in nine innings of work, striking out eight batters in the first game but was credited with the loss.

Offensively, the Seawolves stalled, stranding 13 runners on base while collecting twice as many hits as the Bearcats (8-4). Corinne Vish went 3-for-5 in the game and Jen Milito was 2-for-4.

In game two, Weeks struck out 10 batters and narrowly missed a no-hitter, allowing a double in the seventh to Stony Brook's Shea Carpenter.

Lindsey De La Rosa was credited with the loss, going seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs.

The Seawolves host Quinnipiac in a doubleheader on Monday starting at 3:00 p.m.
