Running Back Clinton Graham Likely Lost For The Season

Aug. 27, 2002

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Running back Clinton Graham tore the Achilles tendon in his right leg in practice over the weekend and will likely be lost for the season, head football coach Sam Kornhauser announced.

Graham suffered the injury in an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday and will have surgery later this week. Graham, who rushed for over 450 yards as a freshman, was making his return in 2002 after sitting out all of last season. He was enjoying an outstanding preseason camp, competing with junior Ken Lockhart for the starting nod at running back.

That is the first major injury of the 2002 campaign for Stony Brook. Despite the setback, the team is extremely upbeat and spirited as they prepare for the highly awaited season opener in the brand-new stadium against St. John's on September 14th. The Seawolves wrap-up two-a-day practices on Wednesday and begin to assume a regular in-season schedule on Friday.
