STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCSADA) and the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced that Stony Brook football student-athletes Franco MilanoAnthony Ferrelli and Clayton Taylor have earned postseason academic awards, as announced by the organizations today.

Taylor, Milano and Ferrelli were all named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-District Team. Milano and Ferrelli were also selected to the 28th Annual FCSADA Academic All Star Team.

This marks the second straight season that Taylor and Ferrelli have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. This team celebrates the nation's top student-athletes who excel in athletics and academics. To qualify, nominees must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing, and be a starter or key reserve on their team. In football, athletes must have participated in at least 90% of their team's games or started 66% of the season's contests.

Milano, a redshirt senior defensive end from Brewster, New York, and Ferrelli, a redshirt junior linebacker from California, were among nine Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) honorees for the All Star Award by the FCSADA. A total of 57 student-athletes were recognized across the FCS, with the Patriot League leading all conferences with 10 selections.

Football players from all Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) institutions are eligible for the award. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate or graduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. They must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. They also must have participated in 50 percent of the games played at their designated position.

"This year's honorees exemplify what it means to be complete student-athletes, excelling both in the classroom and in competition," said FCSADA President Kurt McGuffin, director of athletics at the University of Tennessee Martin. "It is always rewarding to recognize individuals who embody the values and standards of our division. We congratulate all nominees, and especially those earning this well-deserved honor."

Milano wrapped up his career on Long Island with 39 total tackles over 28 games, including 8.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, an interception, and a blocked kick. The 2025 season marked the most productive year of his career, as he set personal bests in tackles (30), solo tackles (10), assisted tackles (20), tackles for loss (8.5), and sacks (4.5), while recording the first blocked kick of his career. He finished the season strong, posting at least 0.5 tackles for loss in four consecutive games and totaling 12 tackles during that stretch.

Ferrelli, a team captain in 2025, turned in a standout season at linebacker. He recorded a career-high 109 tackles (52 solo, 57 assisted), ranking fifth in the CAA and 23rd nationally in the FCS in both total tackles and tackles per game. Ferrelli added 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, his first career interception, a forced fumble against Fordham, and three pass breakups. He registered at least four tackles in every game, reached double digits five times, and posted a season-high 16 tackles with two tackles for loss against Maine. His 109 tackles tied for the third-most in a single season in Stony Brook program history.

Taylor, a senior from Australia, finishes his career with 235 punts for 9,357 yards over the span of 44 games on the Island. He has accumulated eight touchbacks, 80 fair catches, 71 punts inside the 20 yards line, and 19 punts that went 50 or more yards. He concludes his Stony Brook career with the second most punt yards and attempts in program history, trailing Marc Nolan (271 punts - 10,195 yards) from 2015-2018. In his final season on the island, Taylor had 51 attempts for 2,063 yards, including a 63-yard punt in the victory over Fordham for the longest punt of his career.
