OPENING KICK

• This marks the first-ever meeting between these two programs.
• The Stony Brook football team stormed back from a 22-7 deficit at halftime and outscored Lindenwood 29-10 in the second half to take down the Lions, 36-32, at home on Sept. 3.
• Quinn Boyd and Seth Sweitzer paced the offense, as Boyd tossed for 298 yards on 27-of-35 passing with two touchdowns through the air, while Sweitzer caught 12 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown in his first game on Long Island.
• On the other side of the ball, Joseph Garcia finished with a team-high 13 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss.
• On Monday morning, Sweitzer was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week and received votes for the Stats Perform National Offensive Player of the Week.
• Ball State is coming off a 56-3 loss to No. 1 Ohio State last Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals' three points came on Brody Boehm's first career field goal, which was good from 54 yards. The kick also tied the third-longest field goal in program history.
• The Ball State matchup continues Stony Brook's streak of facing an FBS opponent in every full season since 2010.
• A win would mark the program's second-ever victory over an FBS team. Stony Brook's first came against Army in 2012.
• All time, Stony Brook has played opponents from the following FBS conferences: American Athletic Conference (four times), MAC (three, with one cancellation mid-game), Mountain West (three), Sun Belt (two), Big East (one), Pac-12 (one), and two FBS Independents.
• Stony Brook has played within two scores of four other FBS opponents since 2012 and came within three points of upsetting Buffalo in 2013 and UConn in 2014. The Buffalo game was decided in five overtimes.
• In the CAA, the Seawolves rank third in scoring offense at 35.0 points per game and second in yards per game at 429.0, which ranks 10th in the country. Stony Brook also leads the CAA in kickoff return average at 36.2 yards per return.
• LB Anthony Ferrelli, QB Quinn Boyd, WR Seth Sweitzer, DL Abraham Clinkscales and DL Sebastian Regis have been named captains for the 2026 season.

• The Seawolves are 6-1 at home dating back to last season, winning six straight, and 10-3 in the Cosh era at LaValle.
• Stony Brook is now 1-1 all-time against Lindenwood.

SETH EARNS CAA POW 

• Stony Brook football captain and wide receiver Seth Sweitzer has been named CAA Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in Thursday night's victory over Lindenwood, the CAA announced Monday morning.
• Sweitzer, a native of Connecticut, becomes the first CAA Offensive Player of the Week from Stony Brook since quarterback Chris Zellous won the award last season on Sept. 15.
• The transfer from Merrimack made a career-high 12 receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown.
• His 29-yard touchdown grab brought the Seawolves within 22-14 in the third quarter, while his 55-yard fourth-quarter catch set up a touchdown that cut the deficit to two.
• Sweitzer's 12 receptions are the most by a CAA player since 2024, and he is the 21st SBU player to exceed 150 receiving yards in a game.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMERS

• Stony Brook ranks in the top 10 in the country in numerous statistics.
• The Seawolves rank second in team tackles for loss at 10.5 per game, eighth in kickoff returns at 36.2 yards per return, and 10th in passing offense at 310.5 yards per game. Stony Brook is also one of 81 teams that has not allowed a blocked kick this season.
• In the CAA, the Seawolves rank third in points per game (35.0), second in yards per game (429.0) and passing yards per game (310.5), first in kickoff return average (36.2), and third in red zone offense (87.5).
• CJ Hester leads all CAA running backs with 186 rushing yards and is tied for the conference lead with three touchdowns.
• Boyd ranks second in the CAA in passing yards with 621 and leads the conference with five passing touchdowns.
• Sweitzer paces the CAA with 17 receptions and 238 receiving yards this season.
• Khalid Bueno leads the conference with 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, while Garcia ranks fourth with 21 tackles through two games.

OUTLOOK FOR BALL STATE

• Head coach Mike Uremovich leads Ball State in his second season at the helm with a 4-9 record through 13 games.
• In their last time out, the Ball State football team made its first-ever visit to Ohio Stadium and fell to No. 1 Ohio State, 56-3.
• Brody Boehm's first career field goal attempt was good from 54 yards, tying the third-longest field goal in program history.
• QB Keldric Luster is expected to make the start at Ball State. It will be his fourth college season after stints at SMU, where he appeared in seven games over 2023 and 2024, and Texas State, where he made two appearances last year.
• Just two defensive starters return from the 2025 roster, cornerbacks Will Yates and DJ Fields. Fields is a converted safety.
• The Cardinals welcomed 59 new players since the end of the 2025 campaign, with 35 coming from other college programs. That group includes 32 four-year transfers and three junior college transfers.
• First at Temple from 2018-21 and now again at Ball State, Mike Uremovich and Jeff Knowles are believed to be the only pair of FBS offensive and defensive playcallers who were high school teammates.
• Eleven different Ball State players were honored last summer with preseason accolades by various publications.
