Wilmington, N.C. - After dropping its season opener, the Stony Brook softball team bounced back to win two games at the UNC-Wilmington Seahawk Classic on Saturday.

The Seawolves (2-1) dropped game one to North Carolina A & T, 5-3, after the Aggies scored two runs in the third and tacked on three more in the fourth. The Seawolves countered in the fifth with a two-run shot by Kristen Brust and a solo homerun by Jane Stein. However, the Seawolves could get no closer.

Angela Andrews picked up the loss on the mound, allowing eight hits and three earned runs while striking out three.

In the next game of the day, Stony Brook earned a convincing 12-2 victory over Delaware State. Jane Stein's grand slam homerun in the fifth capped an outstanding effort for the sophomore, who finished 3-for-4 at the plate with five RBI. Brust also had a solid effort with a 2-for-4 showing, including a double and a two-run homerun, to go along with four RBI.

Jessica Paparella allowed just four hits in five innings to earn her first collegiate victory on the mound.

In Stony Brook's third game of the day, freshman Hayley Durham's three-run shot in the first inning held up as the Seawolves defeated the host Seahawks, 3-1. Marissa Servello also picked up a pair of hits.

Andrews allowed just three hits and struck out three to earn the win.

Stony Brook continues play at the Seahawk Classic on Sunday.
