After seeing the first day of the Charleston Southern Invitational rained out, the Stony Brook softball team split on Day 2, dominating Savannah State 28-0 and falling in extra innings to Indiana University, 2-1.
Against Savannah State, freshman Laura Bradford hit her first collegiate homerun and Jane Stein added another bomb as the Seawolves collected 22 hits on the day. Jessica Paparella (2-1) struck out 10 to earn the win on the mound.
In game two of the day, the Seawolves were down 1-0 before Colleen McCarthy's homerun shot tied the score at 1-1 in the sixth inning. The Hoosiers grabbed the victory in the bottom of the eighth inning. Abby Stark singled in the gamewinning run with two outs as the Seawolves came up short. Angela Andrews (1-2) picked up the loss.
Stony Brook (3-3) continues play at the invitational on Sunday, when the Seawolves face Tennessee Tech at 9 a.m. and Central Florida at 1 p.m.
