March 24, 2003

Final Stats

Fairfax, Va. - Stony Brook's undefeated streak at George Mason University's Patriot Classic came to an end with a 4-1 setback to Binghamton on Saturday night.

An RBI double by Jennifer Richardson gave Binghamton a 1-0 edge in the second inning, but the Seawolves (6-12) evened the score in the bottom half of the inning. Hayley Durham led off with a hit to right centerfield, and three batters later, Jessica Paparella's sacrifice fly scored Durham to tie the game at 1-1.

But the tie was short-lived, as Binghamton grabbed the lead for good in the third. Jessica Chellis' shot to deep right field scored Christine Sweeney, and Chellis struck again in the fifth with a double that scored two more runs.

On the day, Binghamton pounded out 11 hits compared to just four for the Seawolves.

Paparella took the loss on the mound, pitching three innings and allowing two runs on five hits while striking out two. Angela Andrews came on in relief, going four innings with six hits, two runs and two strikeouts.
