The Stony Brook University baseball team (6-7) tallied a total of 18 runs in the first two innings Tuesday as they rolled to their sixth win of the 2003 season and their second straight. Mike Russo, Nick Theoharis and Rich Graham tallied homeruns in the 19-11 win over the St. Peter's Peacocks (0-9).
The Seawolves allowed two runs in the top of the first, but quickly jumped on the scoreboard with seven runs in the bottom half. Graham drilled his second homerun of the year on the first pitch he saw and Russo quickly added an RBI with his single to centerfield. Lee Lipshutz added the Seawolves fourth run of inning with a RBI single scoring Andrew Larsen and Nick Theoharis tallied the first of his for RBI on the day with a single to left. Graham would go on to score his third RBI of the inning after doubling home Ed Kull and Theoharis.
Stony Brook would follow up their seven-run first with an eleven run second which featured a homer by Theoharis, his first of 2003, and a grand slam by Mike Russo, giving him four round-tippers this year.
Lipshutz finished an impressive 5-of-6 on the day with 3 RBI and Devins and Graham each went 3-of-4 at the dish. Russo tallied a staggering six RBI is the contest and Theoharis posted four. David Wood scored the victory and is now 1-3 on the year. The loss goes to Dan Cainas (0-2).
The Seawolves are back in action tomorrow as they hit the road to take on Manhattan. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
